Ciram was created on July 14, 1997 to provide the State of Santa Catarina with a structure capable of listing and monitoring its natural resources and the environment. It is located in Florianopolis, SC, next to the Administrative Office of Epagri, integrated into a network of research stations and specialized centers, strategically located in different agro-ecological regions of the State of Santa Catarina. Its target audience encompasses the professionals involved in research and extension, Epagri's training centers, environmental agencies, private companies, universities, Santa Catarina's authorities and, in particular, the farmers' families and their organizations.
To integrate data and information from environmental resources efficiently, structuring a reference center with equipment, materials and a multidisciplinary team for the development of research and technology as well as for the provision of specialized services. Epagri/Ciram values the exchanges with other state, national and international institutions through technical and scientific cooperation, in the overall context of the administration of information about environmental resources.
To generate, make available and disseminate information and technology related to the environment, weather and water, aiming to provide sustainable development and improve the living conditions of the population of Santa Catarina.
To be a reference in research and dissemination of information technologies related to environment, weather and water not only in Santa Catarina but also in Brazil.
